Odette is one of two does we were able to keep from Dancy, formerly one of our best milkers here at Antiquity Oaks, and we could not be happier with the result. Her sister, AO Carmen VG, freshened last year and milked 2 pounds a day at only 10 days fresh; this year Carmen peaked at 3.8 pounds, and earned one grand champion leg in AGS.

As Odette continues to mature, we are only more impressed with her. She has a wonderful topline and dairy character, and we could not be happier with her personality. She freshened on June 28, and we are thrilled with her udder. High and wide in the rear with a beautiful medial, she has wonderful orifices that make milking a breeze.

Shirley is our problem child. Out of one of our better milkers, she is a very long and level doe with sturdy feet and legs. In 2005 she consistently placed at the end of the line at every show we attended. There was a long debate about whether or not she would be kept, but her teats decided the issue. Even at two months old, they were nearly half an inch long.

Just as we had decided that Shirley's future would not be in shows, we were asked to bring a few extra junior does to a show in 2006 to be secure in sanctioning the breed, and Shirley was brought along as "insurance" - not because we thought she would win. Shirley blew us all away when she went grand champion junior doe in one of the rings, although because it was an ADGA show and she was not ADGA registered, she did not receive the leg.

The udder on this girl did not disappoint - and as a first freshener, she really surprised us! She's earned her one-day star at only 25 days fresh, and we hope she'll be able to keep it up for her AR.

What can we say about Lizzie? This little doeling was one we could not wait to see freshen - and we were not disappointed! She has a very soft udder with decently sized teats, a high rear, and very good production. Her only fault is that her teats point slightly out to the sides. As a junior kid and a dry yearling she did wonderfully in the show ring, never disappointing us. She earned her dry leg with AGS, the first leg of her MCH. We could not be prouder of this doe, who's not so little anymore!

This line, which begins back with Lizzie's granddam, Dream Acres Flash Dancer, is one we are very happy with. It consistently produces good, show-quality animals, with easily milked, well-producing, beautifully shaped udders.

Maly Cleopatra

DOB: 05-28-2005

AGS (D-29138)

Show Record (2006)

1 x 2nd (class of 7)

Cleo is pure Buttin'Heads (as well as being pure black!), although she carries the Maly herd name. Her mother arrived at Antiquity Oaks two months pregnant - and 11 years old. We (or more specifically, the younger contingent of Antiquity Oaks) wanted some proven bloodlines to add to our herd. Cleo's mother, Mink, is also the great-great-grandmother of many of our goats courtesty of her great grandson, Buttin'Heads Too Polar Express, one of our favorite bucks. Cleo's sire, Topol, is out of CH/ARMCH Buttin'Heads Wedding Song 3*D, who has finished in both ADGA and AGS, and holds more than five Best Doe in Show titles, and a full sister to Buttin'Heads Polished Apple, who already has two legs of her ADGA permanent championship.

As a first freshener we are very impressed with Cleo's udder and production. She has a very soft (I don't know how much I can emphasize that!), easily milked udder, and at 14 days fresh she milked 1.9 pounds on DHI milk test! She has a high rear udder, a very nice medial, and, again, amazing texture. We can't wait to see how this doe does in the milk pail - and later this year in the show ring!
